Voice Announcements - Motorola voice announcement converter
An APX radio can speak the zone and channel you turn to - if every one has a voice announcement. Voice Announcements finds the zones and channels without one, speaks the words in a voice of your choice, and hands back everything the CPS needs to load them.
What it does
- Drop the CPS Zone Channel Assignment export - with the radio's Voice Announcement List, or a combined export - and every zone and channel without an announcement is listed with the words it should say.
- Text to speech in a choice of voices. Hear each announcement exactly as the radio will play it, change the words or the speed - for a voice or a single announcement - and hear it again.
- Kept under the 2.96 seconds the CPS allows, and names that break the CPS's file-name rules are fixed.
- Download the Voice Announcement List XML - the radio's own entries and the new ones, in order - the .mva files zipped, and the zone export with each zone and channel's announcement assigned, or the list and the zones in one file.
- It learns how your names are spoken - EVT16 is "event 16" - from what you and your agency teach it and from radios that already speak.
- Custom announcements for anything else the radio plays.
Questions
What is an .mva file?
The file the Motorola CPS uses for a voice announcement: a short header and the audio as AMR-NB. Codeplug Helper writes them in the same format as the CPS's own converter.
Do I need a radio with text-to-speech?
No. The announcements are made here as audio and loaded like any other voice announcement. A radio that already speaks teaches the words it uses.
