UCL Workbench - Motorola UCL converter
The Unified Call List is the contact book in a Motorola APX radio. The UCL Workbench turns the CPS's UCL export into a spreadsheet you can edit in Excel and back into the XML the CPS imports - and builds or updates a UCL from a Provisioning Manager export of a whole radio system.
What it does
- Export the UCL from the CPS as XML and get a spreadsheet with a column per system - ASTRO 25, ASTRO Conventional and MDC. Edit it in Excel, bring it back, and download the XML in the exact shape the CPS exports, ready to import.
- Build or update a UCL from a Provisioning Manager export: pick your agency's prefixes, rename aliases (KFD- to KV-), and find the radios no longer on the system.
- Every change is shown before it is written: new contacts, changed IDs, renamed aliases, an ID moving from one contact to another. Nothing is overwritten without being checked.
- Caught before the CPS: the same ID on two names in one system, one name with two IDs in one system, similar aliases (AC 12 and AC12), names over 14 characters, more than five system IDs on a contact - and each put right on the page.
- Conventional IDs made from the trunking ID: the full ID as the ASTRO Conventional ID, the last four digits as the MDC ID.
- Several files combined into one list, and Kenwood call lists read and written as well.
Questions
What file does it take?
The Unified Call List exported from the Motorola CPS as XML - on its own or inside a combined export - a spreadsheet, a Provisioning Manager export (.csv), or a Kenwood call list (.xlsx).
Does it change what I did not touch?
No. The XML is written back the way the CPS exports it; only the changes you checked are in it. The download replaces the codeplug's UCL, so it is always the whole list.
